COMMISSIONED PAINTING PROCESS

Step 1: You have a favorite photo that you'd love to see turned into a painting! You reach out to me, providing image by email with special instructions (add sister!) and desired dimensions for canvas (36" h x 24" w). We talk about the overall look/feel you'd like in your painting.

Step 2: I begin the painting by toning the canvas a medium value in acrylic paint (usually red or orange) to help me see the values more accurately and to add a vibrant/unifying color to the finished piece. I then outline the composition in a dark color with oil paint and my palette knife.

Step 3: This is the fun part for me! I start adding color to the painting in a series of dark and light values, leaving some of the toned canvas showing through for the medium values until the painting feels finished to me (2-3 weeks). I love to play up the colors in the image and add texture with my palette knife.

Step 4: This is the fun part for you! The painting is finished and you receive first an email with a photo of the painting, then the actual painting once dry (1-2 weeks). I paint the sides of the canvas and provide framing suggestions. Payment taken upon completion; satisfaction guaranteed.
